Esther R. Grenzow

Esther R. Grenzow, Age 105, of Monroe, formerly of Juda, died Friday, July 2, 2021 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Esther was born September 24, 1915 on the Rodenbough family farm in Spring Grove Township to Luther and Mattie (Pyle) Rodenbough. She graduated from Juda High School in 1932 and married John Seidel in 1935. John died in 1939 in Washington D.C. Esther married Herbert Andereck on October 7, 1942. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1981. Esther began her career in the workforce as a civil servant in Washington D.C. and after moving back to Juda, she worked alongside her husband, Herbert, at the Andereck Garage. She also was a long-time employee at the Bank of Juda until retiring. Esther married Morris Grenzow on January 6, 1996. Morris passed away on May 11, 2012.

Esther was an active member of the former Juda Baptist Church and more recently was a member at Union Presbyterian Church in Monroe. Esther was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. When asked the secrets to old age, she would point out the importance of “moderation in all things”. She was a positive person. When asked how she was doing, she would always respond, “I’m fine”. Esther was a shining example of what it means to grow old gracefully, almost making it to 106 while maintaining a sharp mind, and keeping an uplifting attitude. Esther enjoyed her long life. Her only lament about living so long was that so many friends and family had gone on before her. She is now celebrating with those loved ones in their heavenly home. She once said of life, “While you’re alive…live it”.

She is survived by two daughters, Audrey Seidel Nickerson, Elaine Andereck Wuethrich; step-children, Frank Grenzow, Patricia (Jim) Burke; grandchildren, Brian (Linda) Nickerson, Patra (Chris) Dwyer, Dietra Nickerson, Cale (Megan) Wuethrich; step-grandchildren, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Burke, Laura (Ron) Williams, Crystal (Josh) Nunn; four great grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Larry (Joan) Kloepping, Carol Silva, Kent Kloepping, Jolene (Armin) Brudi, Martha (Larry) Buckley, Frances (Tim) Kloss, Richard (Mary) Rodenbough.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Esther was preceded in death by a sister, Christine (Dale) Kloepping; and a brother, Jake Rodenbough.

A celebration of Esther’s life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Juda. Esther’s family would like to thank Pleasant View Nursing Home and Monroe Clinic Hospice for their exceptional care.
