Douglas D. Prien, age 57 of Monroe passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at SSM Health Monroe Hospital. He was born the son of Donovan and Lavon (Meyers) Prien. He attended Monroe High School.

Doug devoted his life to farming. He grew up dairy farming and crop farming. His hobbies included shooting pool for a league at Nett’s Sports Bar (formerly Old Smokey’s). He loved storytelling and working on machinery. He always had dogs in his life and enjoyed spending time with his dogs Buster and Tiny. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Lavon “Dolly” Prien of Monroe; fiancé, Betty Parkinson of Monroe; children, Sara (Kenneth) Stoller of Elk River, MN, Craig Prien of Monroe, Megan (Gabe) Prien of Delavan, Anna (Gary) Maras of Lisbon; step-children, Sarah (Chris) DeHaven and Joshua Parkinson; grandchildren, Connor and Emmerson Prien; step-granddaughter, Alexus DeHaven; siblings, Deb (Don) Haagenson, Cheryl Ray, Denise (David) Dye, and Sharon (Dave) DeVries; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father; and brother-in-law, John Ray.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME.
