Carol M. Laughridge age 94 of Albany, died Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born December 10, 1926 in New Glarus, the daughter of Palmer and Verena (Hefty) Arn. She graduated from New Glarus H.S. in 1944 and Platteville Teachers College in 1945. Carol married William Ray Laughridge on June 18, 1948 in New Glarus. Carol was a Teacher in the Mauston school district for many years; after returning to the area, she worked as an appointment secretary at the Monroe Clinic, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church and the Albany Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed knitting and taught classes.
She is survived by her husband, William Ray of Albany; daughter, Barbara (Tom) Gacic of St. Charles, IL and son, Bill (Cheri) Laughridge of Mokena, IL; grandchildren: Colleen (Tom) Simpson, Kelli Gacic, Kristen (Lou) Gale, and Kevin Laughridge; great grandchildren: Henry Gale, Jacob Gale, Charlie Simpson, and Rhys Simpson. Special Goddaughter, Julie (Ron) Wanless and her daughter, Jeni (Mike) Schroeder and their children, Luella and Albie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Eugene Arn and sister, Myrdelle Arn.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Albany United Methodist Church with Pastor Thomas Moe officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery in Albany. A visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service, at the church. Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Memorials can be given in Carol’s memory to the Albany U.M.C. youth group.
