Carol Lee Leck, age 76, of Monroe passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Albany Oaks Assisted Living. She was born the daughter of Clifford and Louise (Altenbernd) Leck on May 17, 1946 in Monroe. She was a 1964 graduate of Monroe High School; she also went on to attend college at Blackhawk Technical College and UW-Wisconsin.
Carol was the office manager at Stauffacher Construction Company for 10 years; she was then the secretary for Goetz Corp. for 10 years; she later worked at Roy’s Dairy, later known as Avonmore Cheese, for 13 years. She also dedicated much of her time to volunteer work. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 13 years and was vital in starting the Daisy Program. She also gave her time to the Monroe Clinic Pharmacy, St. Vincent de Paul, Hand in Hand Senior Day Care, and Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was a longtime member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, where she was very active in the Sunday School program. Carol was also a very talented artist; together with her friend, Micki Duerst, they painted a large mural in the church. For the last few years, she had resided at Albany Oaks Assisted living in Albany.
Carol is survived by her brother, Loran (Mary) Leck of Sunny Pines, NC; nieces and nephews, Todd, Chad, Ann, and their families; as well as dear friends, Carolyn Hilliard and Micki Duerst; and her extended relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Shirley Leck.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Lance Smith officiating.
