DEATH NOTICE

 

Beatrice "Bea" Bergum, age 80, of Monroe passed away surrounded by her family on October 25, 2023 at the SSM Health Hospice Home. She was born on August 5, 1943, in Albany, WI, the daughter of William and Gusta (Dittmer) Patchen.  Bea was a proud graduate of Albany High School. On August 24, 1963, Bea married the love of her life, Theodore Bergum, in Denver, CO. Their union was blessed with one son, Jeff, who preceded her in death.  Bea worked at KMART for many years and later for Hallmark, where she arranged card displays at various stores. 

Bea cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her granddaughter Bobbi Jo with whom she had a special bond. Bea's family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family's needs before her own.  She was known for her legendary baked bean recipe.  Bea was an avid reader; she also enjoyed watching the news and tennis and spent countless hours playing solitaire.   

Bea is survived by her daughter-in-law, Brenda Bergum; granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Bergum; brothers, Alan (Ann) Patchen and Barry Joe (Alice) Patchen; sisters-in-law, Delores Patchen, Kay Bergum, Shirley Oftedahl, and Barb Bergum; and brother-in-law, Richard (Barbara) Bergum. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; son, Jeff; sister, Beverly (Stanley) Johnson; brother, Jack Patchen; and brothers-in-law, John, William, and Timothy Bergum.

Family and friends may gather at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 28, 2023 for a brief time of remembrance at 12:00 PM followed by a graveside service at Union Cemetery in South Wayne with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating.
