Alfred F. Schumacher Jr., age 86, of Monroe WI, went to be with His Lord, on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Monroe Hospital. He had been living at Aster Assisted Living Center for six weeks.  He was born the son of Alfred and Minnie (Stiefel) Schumacher on May 31, 1937 in Davis Junction, IL, Ogle County.

He graduated from Monticello High School in 1955. Alfred attended Minnesota Bible College receiving a Bachelor of Sacred Literature in 1960. He also attended  Northwest Missouri State College, Alfred then further his education at Minnesota Bible College receiving a Bachelor of Sacred Literature in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1960. in Kirksville, Missouri and received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1962. He furthered his education by receiving a Master of Arts from Northwest State College of Missouri in 1968.  

Alfred spent his career as an educator.  For several years, he was a teacher, a principal and counselor throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. He loved to read and encouraged his family & friends to read also. If you had asked him, he would say  “The Bible was the most important book to him.”  He also loved sports and enjoyed watching the “Green Bay Packers”. Because of his love for music, he would sing and harmonize with many.  This was his way of praising Jesus. He sang high, clear and also played his trumpet.   

Alfred will be fondly remembered by his sister, Helene Timm of Rochelle, Illinois and 8 nephews & nieces.  They are: Russ (Jean) Schumacher of Florida, Janet (Dan) Wenz of Florida, Dennis (Beverly) Schumacher of Florida, Gary (Pennie) Schumacher of Wisconsin, Kris (Darrin) {Burri} Phipps of Texas, Tami {Timm} Rhea of Illinois, Suann (Gary) {Timm} Wells of Iowa, Karen (Michael) {Timm} Collins of Illinois.  He also had great-nephews & nieces. He will be greatly missed by his Care Workers, Bob & Cyndy Carlson, his many friends at Hope Evangelical Free Church and in the Monroe area.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Rev. Russell (Doris) Schumacher and Richard Schumacher; and one sister, Maxine (Dwight) Burri and a niece Valerie (Schumacher) Wells.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 2 pm at Hope Evangelical Free Church, 2902 13th St., Monroe, WI 53566. There will be a reception immediately following at the church, for family & friends.
