MONROE - The Woodbridge Corporation in Brodhead has filed notice with the state that it will be laying off workers.
Plant Manager Glen Condon verified Wednesday the company was up against the 60-day notice, but did not know exactly how many people would be laid off.
The company is waiting for the decision and Condon expects to know by the end of the week. The layoff is plant-wide and based on production, Condon said.
"The GM operation closing is a big one and the general downturn in the auto industry," he said about the causes for the layoffs.
Woodbridge makes foam products for the auto industry. It is one of Brodhead's largest employers, with 165 workers, according to the Green County Development Corporation's Web site.
Woodbridge began manufacturing polyurethane composite lumber products this April. Condon said the orders for those products is growing.
