TOWN OF SYLVESTER — The windshield of a newly elected board member was reportedly damaged during the April 18 meeting.

Green County Sheriff Jeff Skatrud said his office took a report the next day, April 19, of a small chip in the windshield from a vehicle that was parked at the Sylvester Town Hall parking lot during the meeting. The complainant did not want it further followed up, instead just documented in case of any future incidents.

Asked if more than one vehicle suffered damage, Skatrud said, “One vehicle is all we were told about.”

Skatrud said he did not see the damage personally, and could not conclude if it politically motivated as a form of vandalism in retaliation from the April 4 election, or instead was accidental and possibly suffered from an errant rock or debris while driving.

In the April 4 election, Terry Reed was elected as Sylvester Town Board Supervisor 1, Dale Howarth Supervisor 2, and Anna Anderson chairperson.
