Vietnam Veterans Honored
Vietnam-Vets
Special guest Linda Fritag from the Daughters of 1812 joined the monthly VFW post meeting on July 17 in Monroe. She presented 19 local Vietnam veterans with a 50-year correlative pin and a certificate that thanked them for their time of service and welcomed each one of them home as they should have received but never did. The war ended 50 years ago and when these men came back they didn’t receive the hero’s welcome home that they should have. “It was very humbling to shake each one of their hands and welcome them home. Thank you all for your service to this great nation,” said Joel Steinmann, Commander VFW post 6858.
