MONROE — The Green County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the passenger killed in a single-vehicle fatal crash early Christmas Eve in the W2300 block of CTH EE in Albany Township in rural Green County. 

The victim was identified as Santos Pascual Velasquez Lopez, 44 of Janesville, police said in a statement. Velasquez Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office. 

His name had been withheld pending notification of family. According to reports, the Red 1999 Ford Ranger pickup was traveling eastbound on CTH EE when it entered the gravel ditch on the southside of the road. The driver overcorrected and then entered the north ditch where it traveled down a steep embankment into a field. The vehicle rolled before coming to rest on its side.

The incident is being investigated by the Green County Sheriff’s Office and Green County Coroner.
