Summer school schedule to change

MONROE - The Monroe school district is changing things up with this year's summer school schedule.

Teachers and parents participated in a recent survey put out by the district about the format of the six weeks of summer school, with three different options. According to Terri Montgomery, director of curriculum and instruction, both groups favored the same option, where summer school classes would be in session for three weeks, off for one week, then on for another three weeks.

This summer, the district will be adopting the schedule chosen through the survey, Montgomery said.

"We saw what they wanted and we're going with it," she said.

Summer school had previously run for six weeks straight, starting the week after the spring semester ended.
