Seven injured in alleged drunk driving accident

MONROE - Seven people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Saturday, due to an alleged drunk driver.

One person needed transportation to the hospital,

Zachariah J. Staver, 24, Scales Mound, Ill., was arrested at 5:22 p.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated and causing injury after his vehicle hit a vehicle driven by Fernando J. Valdes, 22, Freeport, on West 8th Street at 6th Avenue.

Valdes was cited for driving without a valid license and Staver was cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign.

Six people were treated at the scene by EMS and one person was transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital.

Staver was released pending court.
