MONROE — After taking over the sheriff’s job recently from Jeff Skatrud, Sheriff Cody Kanable is announcing the promotion of a 14-year department veteran to the post of chief deputy.
Kanable previously held that role under Skatrud. Now it will be in the hands of Lt. John Schuetz, officials said.
“John started as a Deputy assigned to our Jail Division, promoted to Patrol Division where he served in a variety of roles such as Officer In Charge and Court Services supervisor,” said Kanable, in a statement. “John climbed the ranks to Detective in 2018 and served in that role until he was promoted to Lieutenant in 2021 where he was responsible for the supervision of the Detective Bureau.”
He was first promoted to the department’s detective division in 2018.
The sheriff further described Schuetz as a “vital employee’’ who is approachable and responsive.
“Lieutenant Schuetz has developed into an outstanding investigator pursuing offenders that possess child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and has made Green County a safer place to live and visit because of his efforts,” said Kanable.
Schuetz will start in his new post on July 14.
