Schools close in advance of storm

A jarring Wisconsin January that went from fog, record warmth and tornadoes to snowstorms, ice dams and bitter cold promised to produce another treacherous weather mix Tuesday.

Green and Lafayette counties are under a winter storm warning until midnight Wednesday, as well as a wind chill advisory through noon Wednesday.

A number of area schools were being closed early today.

Brodhead: 2 hours early

Darlington: 3 hours early

Juda: 12:30 p.m.

Monroe: 12:30 p.m.

Monticello: 3 1/4 hours early

New Glarus: 2 hours early

Pecatonica: 2 1/4 hours early

Sporting Events Postponed Tuesday >

• All Argyle School events, including Argyle @ Albany boys basketball, postponed to Feb. 2 (JV at 6:p.m., varsity to follow.)

• All Monticello School events

• Black Hawk @ Barneveld boys basketball, postponed to Feb. 9. (JV at 1:30 p.m., varsity approx. 2:45 p.m.)
