MONROE - The Monroe school board approved the calendar for the 2016-17 school year at a meeting Monday.
Students in 4K through ninth grade will start the school year on Sept. 1, while those in 10th, 11th and 12th grade will start on Sept. 2. The last day of school is a half-day on June 6, 2017, but that could change depending on inclement weather.
Winter break is set for Dec. 23, 2016 through Jan. 2, 2017, with students returning to school on Jan. 3.
Spring break spans from March 20-24, 2017.
The district is continuing with early release on most Mondays, dismissing students an hour earlier than usual to give teachers in-service time.
District Administrator Cory Hirsbrunner said the date of the graduation ceremony has not yet been determined for the class of 2017.
