MONROE — A Monroe man with six convictions of drunken driving on his record was arrested again for the same offense early Saturday, July 6, according to Monroe police.
Robert J. Field, 62, was jailed on the seventh-offense charge of operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces three to 12 and a half years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines. Imprisonment is required by law for seventh-offense OWI convictions.
Monroe Police stopped Field for a traffic violation at 2:50 a.m. in the 700 block of 8th Street. He was also cited for unsafe lane deviation.
Field was convicted of his most recent OWI, his sixth, in Green County in 2002. According to court records, he had a blood-alcohol level at the time of more than 0.25%, which is more than three times the legal limit for driving.
Judge James Beer sentenced him to one year in jail and four years on probation.
