MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:
- Set a public hearing date of March 6 for defining "communication tower" and allowing for conditional uses in the city code.
- Granted, on a 9-1 vote, three easements to Utelco for high speed DSL sites for $1,000 each. Chris Beer voted against the motion.
- Approved unanimously telecommunication facilities to be placed on the UTELCO easements.
- Approved unanimously a request to transfer $4,000 in unbudgeted Wellness Center fees to equipment repair ($2,700) and to the capital account ($1,300.) The Behring Senior Center budgeted $17,000 for health care benefits for Wellness Center staff from its $21,000 in fee revenue.
- Approved unanimously $455,660 to pay bills.
- Approved the Green County YMCA Celtic Walk Before You Crawl 5K Run/Walk event on March 10.
- Held a public hearing on the future plans of the Monroe wastewater treatment plant facility.
- Authorized unanimously hiring Water Well Solutions for not more than $47,000 to provide rehabilitation of well No. 6, located near the high school.
- Authorized unanimously hiring Fehr-Graham and Associates for not more than $20,000 to provide soil contamination assessment services at 718 8th St.
- Authorized unanimously hiring Whitney Tree Service for rates as quoted for 2012 and 2013 tree removals and trimming and stump removals.
