MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, Oct. 4, the City of Monroe Public Property Committee met in closed session to discuss the potential purchase of a run-down property from the county and possible resale of the property.
MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, Oct. 4, the City of Monroe Salary and Personnel Committee:
- Discussed the update of several non-represented employee job descriptions. City Administrator Phil Rath noted some job descriptions had not been updated since 1996. The remaining job descriptions will be sent to committee members next week. Members will evaluate the changes and meet again in two weeks to take action.
- Discussed methods to evaluate and update a classification wage scale. Rath will complete a survey of similar sized Wisconsin cities and job positions to attain pay range and averages. The wage scale was adopted 15 years ago.

- Approved the mayoral appointment of Paul Hannes to replace Fran Jenson on the Senior Citizens Board for a term to end April 30, 2013.
- Approved unanimously $615,100 to pay bills.
- Approved the installation of "Children at Play" cautionary sign in the 800 block of 12th Avenue.
- Granted miscellaneous licenses.
- Granted a temporary "Class B" beer and wine license to St. Clare Parish for Parish Fall Festival on Oct. 8 and 9.
- Approved Kristen M. Blankenhorn as the new agent for a class "A" beer license issued to Bowen Oil Company.
- Voted unanimously to accept the bid proposals for the East Terrace lift station maintenance upgrade project and to award the contract to E&N Hughes Company, Monroe, for the sum of $20,950.
- Accepted a bequest of $7,500 from the Mildred Kubly Estate. The bequest is to be used for parks and recreation purposes as the Parks and Recreation Board of Commissioners deems best.
- Voted 8-1 to send the issue of a citizen's concerns about deer and fencing at the Monroe Municipal Airport to the Airport Board of Management. Sara Conway voted against. No discussion about the issue took place at the council meeting.
Mayor Bill Ross and Alderman Chris Beer were absent.
