MAC to present Rockford artist's work

MONROE - From Friday, March 22 through Friday, May 3, Monroe Art Center's Frehner Gallery will present "The Earth Laughs in Flowers," a painting exhibit by Rockford, Ill. artist Ingrid Dohm.

Known for her floral still lifes, Dohm's work also includes landscapes, street scenes, and portraits.

Dohm will conduct an artist workshop from 9:30 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 4 at MAC, 1315 11th St. The artist workshop is open to the public with a $5 at-door workshop fee required.

Also on exhibit at MAC is the work by artists participating in the 26th annual Wisconsin Regional Art Program Competition and Exhibit. Non-professional artists compete in this program hoping to have their work earn a state or honorable mention exhibit award. As a WRAP State Award winner, artists are given the opportunity to compete at the state WRAP competition held during September in Madison. Dohm will serve as judge for the Monroe WRAP competition.

An opening reception for both exhibits is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 22 in the Frehner Gallery. Dohm will give a brief gallery talk at 5:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
