MONROE - The Monroe Arts Center will present the MAC Radio Live Showcase of Talent at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28 in the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center, 1600 26th St.
The annual event, now in its 14th year, gives area performers a chance to showcase their talents in a family-oriented show.
General admission tickets for MAC Radio Live may be purchased at the MAC box office, 1315 11th St. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Hosted by Ron Spielman, and directed by Nadine Whiteman and Peggy Miller Sheffer, MAC Radio Live is presented in the same style as a live radio variety show, complete with commercial jingles and a house band. Saturday night's performance will be broadcast live on Big Radio.
Returning as the MAC Radio Live house band are Betty and the Bee Stings, featuring musical director Sheffer on keyboards. Rounding out the "Stings" are Dave Carper and Craig Tuttle on guitars, and Tom Salamone on drums. The band will lend live accompaniment to many of the acts, as well as add to the atmosphere of a live radio show.
More than 25 acts will include a variety of vocalists, performing both comical and serious songs; instrumentalists; and comedy routines. A new feature for the 2012 show is the addition of pre-show entertainment.
