Local candidates to face no competition

MONROE/DARLINGTON - Candidates face no competition in the April 3 election for seats on the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors and the Monroe School District Board of Education.

Candidates had until the end of the day on Tuesday, Jan. 3 to file nomination papers and sign a declaration of candidacy to qualify for a spot on the ballot this spring.

Three seats are up for election on the Monroe school board. Those seats are currently held by Pam Wyss, Amy Bazley and Bob Erb.

Wyss will not be seeking re-election, according to Board of Education Executive Assistant Cindy Rupnow.

Bazley and Erb have filed for re-election. A new candidate, Mary Berger, also filed for the election.

"There is no one new running," Laurie Monson, assistant deputy clerk in Lafayette County, wrote in an email.

Incumbents in the Lafayette County Board are:
