Judicial candidates in forum Feb. 2

MONROE - The primary election for a new judicial branch of the Green County Circuit Courtis less than three weeks away.

All three candidates for the position will meet with the Green County Republicans at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at Turner Hall 1217 17th Ave. Party members and the public are welcome to attend.

The three candidates, Green County Court Commissioner Timothy Burns, and Green County attorneys Dan Gartzke and Thomas Vale, will face off in the Feb. 17 primary for the Second Branch position. The top two vote-getters will face off in the April election.

In 2007, the Legislature approved a second judge for the county based on an increased caseload handled by Green County Circuit Court Judge James Beer.

The spring election is April 7 and the judges will take office in August.

Green County Circuit Court Judge James Beer is running unopposed in the April election. He also was invited to attend to forum.

The party caucus will take place at 7 p.m.
