MONROE - A Juda man remains jailed after making his initial appearance Thursday in Green County Circuit Court for drug charges.

Benjamin L. Hass, 24, is charged with manufacturing and delivery of marijuana, a class F felony, bail jumping, a class A misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor. He faces more than 13 years in prison and more than $35,000 in fines, if convicted.

He remains jailed on a $17,000 signature bond and an $8,000 cash bond.

His preliminary hearing is March 11 before Green County Circuit court Judge Thomas Vale.

Hass was arrested by the State Line Area Narcotics Team, or SLANT, at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at his home at W2940 Washington St., in Juda.

According to Green County Chief Deputy Jeff Skatrud, SLANT officers found an indoor marijuana growing operation on the second floor of the residence.

Officers seized 107 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, growing lights, fans, fertilizers, pots, irrigation material, remnants of previously harvested plants and a variety of other items used to manufacture marijuana.

Cultivated marijuana plants can yield up to one pound of marijuana per plant. Skatrud estimated the value of the marijuana seized at Hass' house at about $100,000.

He was convicted of manufacturing and delivery of marijuana in 2006 Rock County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to six months in jail.

He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Feb. 22 in Green County. He was free on a $300 signature bond. A pretrial conference for the unclassified misdemeanor charge was scheduled for April 6.
