MADISON - A 56-year-old Green County man waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week on charges that he robbed a convenience store at gunpoint.
Ronald M. Goodman, who lived in Brodhead until recently and then in Albany, remains jailed in Dane County with a $5,000 cash bond set on felony charges of armed robbery and bail jumping.
During his arraignment Wednesday, June 13, the Dane County Circuit Court entered a not-guilty plea for Goodman. Public defender Laura Breun was assigned Goodman's case the same day.
According to police:
Goodman was arrested the morning of Tuesday, June 5 shortly after officers responded to a report from a cashier at Town and County Mart, 2050 County MM, that a man entered the store, displayed a handgun, demanded money and then fled.
A Dane County Sheriff's detective stopped Goodman at County M and Wendt Road because he matched the cashier's description of the suspected robber.
A K-9 unit with the sheriff's department located evidence in Goodman's vehicle linking him to the robbery.
