MONROE - The Monroe Excellence In Education Foundation announced its 2015 grant winners.
The Monroe Excellence In Education Foundation is an independent community organization that is designed to provide private resources to enhance educational programs; offer extended educational opportunities; encourage innovation; and recognize the achievements of students and staff in the Monroe school district. It is a component of the Monroe Fund, organized under the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin.
This year a special grant was awarded in honor of Beth Kille, who has supported EIE for six years at its annual Steak and Shake fundraiser. Jill Leuzinger, representing Parkside, Northside and Abraham Lincoln Accelerated Learning Academy elementary schools, received the grant of $750 to update and add to their musical inventory in order to enhance the newly-adopted Orff teaching method.

Since its first grant cycle in 2002, Monroe EIE has funded more than 100 projects totaling more than $150,000; this year, a total of $12,997 was awarded. These grants include funding from EIE Endowment, EIE Spendable, Class of 1977, Class of 1949, Rehmstedt Fund for Northside Elementary, the Tschudy Family Fund and the MHS Instrumental Music Fund.
