MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has two engineering camps coming up:
Robot Battles is for students entering third through seventh grades this fall. This five-day camp will be from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 21-25. The fee is $160 for residents or $170 for non-residents. Students will create, program and control robots designed to perform challenges such as SumoBots Challenge, Jousting Challenge and Catapult Challenge. Students will use Lego Robotics and computers to learn principles of robotics, computer programming and teamwork.
Invader Defense-Shark Attack is for students entering third through seventh grades this fall. This five-day camp will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 21-25. The fee is $160 for residents and $170 for non-residents. Participants will create their own version of an invader defense game using the engineering design process to create a storyboard and outline the rules of the play for their game. At the end of camp, each participant will take home a working Windows-compatible game.
All classes will be held in the old EMS building, 1821 12th St. Register online or at Parks and Rec's temporary office in the Streets Department, 1064 5th Ave.
