MONROE - Emmi Roth USA announced its FSSC Monroe and Penn Yan, N.Y. facilities have been approved for FSSC 22,000 Certification by the Global Food Safety Initiative after two years of preparation.

FSSC 22,000 is a rigorous food safety standard that covers a facility's entire supply chain. The certification integrates Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, as well as traceability and legal food safety requirements in an ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Emmi Roth USA's Monroe facility was previously certified ISO 9001, a quality management system. The new FSSC 22,000 certification means the facility will comply with both ISO 22,000 and PAS 220. It is one of only a handful of cheese plants in the nation to achieve the highest standard of food safety recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative.
