Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — No injuries were reported from a one-vehicle accident on Wis. 11, Town of Wayne, at 10:14 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4. Wayne E. Melton, 50, Juda, was following another vehicle when debris from the vehicle in front of him flew off, hitting Melton’s vehicle. There was moderate damage to Melton’s vehicle and it was driven from the scene. The incident remains under investigation.

On Friday, Oct. 5:

●  Elizabeth A. Scott, 64, Gratiot reported hitting a deer at 7:22 a.m. on Wisconsin 78, Town of Argyle. No injuries were reported. Her 2012 Toyota sustained minor damage.

●  Robert B. Conner, 56, Blanchardville reported hitting a deer at 10:27 p.m. on County G, Town of Kendall. No injuries were reported. His 2016 Kia sustained minor damage. The Belmont Police Department assisted.

On Saturday, Oct. 6:

●  Michael L. Brummel, 60, Argyle, reported hitting a deer at 11:22 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Argyle. No injuries were reported. His 2006 Kia sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. Brummel was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

On Tuesday, Oct. 9:

●  Charity A. Johnson, 43, Mineral Point, reported hitting a deer at 6:36 a.m. on County G, Town of Kendall. No injuries were reported. Her 2000 Volkswagen sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

●  No injuries were reported at 3:59 p.m. from a one-vehicle accident on County XX, Town of Belmont. Andrew S. Weber, 17, Platteville, was eastbound in his 1999 Buick when he lost control on a curve, went into the ditch and came to rest in a cornfield. The Platteville Fire Department and Southwest Health EMS responded to the scene with deputies. The vehicle was towed.

On Wednesday, Oct. 10:

●  Helen M. Noble, 70, Gratiot, reported hitting a deer at 7:22 a.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Wayne. No injuries were reported. Her 2005 Toyota sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.

●  A one-vehicle accident involving a garbage truck and no injuries was reported at 2:47 p.m. in the Town of Belmont. Jimmy E. Bogardus Jr., 22, Platteville, was driving on County G when he lost control on a curve. The garbage truck went off the road, entered the ditch and came to rest on its side. It sustained moderate damage and was towed. The Belmont Fire and Police Departments and Belmont EMS assisted on scene.

●  David J. Stute, 78, Argyle, reported hitting a deer at 9:07 p.m. on Whiteside Road, Town of Wiota. No injuries were reported. His 2015 Honda sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — A two-vehicle crash with no injuries was reported at the intersection of County DR and Wisconsin 59 in the Town of Monroe at 6:28 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10. Gregory E. Holthaus, 26, Monroe was eastbound on County DR when he failed to stop at the stop sign for Wis. 59, proceeded into the intersection and collided with a southbound vehicle driven by Johnnie L. Roundy, 52, Waunakee. Roundy’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front passenger side, including passenger-side curtain airbag deployment. It was later towed. Holthaus’ vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front driver side, with no airbag deployment. Holthaus was able to drive from the scene. He was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
