DARLINGTON - A Gratiot woman signed a $10,000 signature bond Wednesday, April 3 on a charge that she hit and injured a 6-year-old girl with her Jeep after the girl got off a school bus in Wayne Township in February.
Angela Goebel, 41, faces a Class F felony charge of committing second-degree reckless injury. She made her initial appearance Wednesday in Lafayette County Circuit Court.
According to court records:
The Black Hawk School District bus, operated by Roger L. Jackson, 73, Browntown, was stopped to let the girl off at her residence in the 6400 block of Wisconsin 11 on the afternoon of Feb. 2. The bus had its stop sign extended and rear red lights flashing.
Goebel went to pass the bus on the right shoulder and hit the girl, who sustained a concussion and hip fracture. She was taken by ambulance to Monroe Clinic ER for treatment of her injuries.
Goebel was cited at the scene for failure to stop for a stopped school bus and failure to have control of a motor vehicle. The felony charge against her was filed Tuesday, March 19.
Her adjourned initial appearance on the charge is Tuesday, April 9.
