BLANCHARDVILLE - An 86-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning after being struck by a van as she walked across Main Street in Blanchardville.
Lafayette County Sheriff Scott Pedley, in a news release, identified the victim as Leona J. Rundhaug of Blanchardville.
The accident occurred at about 8:12 a.m. when a 2006 Chevrolet 3500 model van, driven by Adam C. Hanson, 36, Blanchardville, was traveling southbound on Main Street and was unable to avoid Rundhaug, Pedley said.
Rundhaug was transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital, where she died a few hours later, Pedley said.
Hanson was uninjured. He was cited for inattentive driving.
The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department and Blanchardville Police continue to investigate.
