BRODHEAD — The Green County Sheriff has identified the driver of a single car crash in Brodhead that led to the loss of their life. Marcia E. Leitzen, age 70 of rural Brodhead, was found unresponsive along CTH E, Monday, Nov. 1.

The late model automobile Leitzen drove was pressed against a tree in the backyard of a residence along the road near St. John Rd. in Decatur Township north of the City of Brodhead. Life saving measures were preformed but unsuccessful.

Leitzen suffered from a medical event that likely contributed to the loss of control of her vehicle and ultimately, the loss of her life, according to the Green County Coroner’s Office and the Green County Sheriff’s Office, due to the manner in which the vehicle left the roadway and the lack of serious damage to the vehicle.

The Brodhead Fire, Brodhead EMS and Brodhead Police assisted the Green County Sheriff’s Deputies in the investigation.
