Wilma A. Zimmerman, 95, of Winslow passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Lena Living Center. A lifelong resident of Winslow, she lived in her own home until the last few weeks of her life.

Wilma was born on April 18, 1916 to Ferdinand and Sarah (Rabe) Zunker at home in Cadiz Township, Browntown, WI. At 9 months of age her mother died. She was raised by her grandmother Clara Rabe in the home of her uncle Dr. Otto A. Rabe, DVM, in Winslow.

On March 25, 1950, Wilma married John Zimmerman at the Winslow Methodist Church. He passed away on September 3, 1964.

Wilma was a 1934 graduate of Winslow High School and also a graduate of Brown's Business College in Freeport. She was employed by Union Loan for several years and also served as bookkeeper in her uncle's veterinary practice. Later, she succeeded her husband as a partner in the Winslow Cheese Company. Wilma served as a bank director of Winslow State Bank for 26 years.

She was a faithful member of the Winslow United Methodist Church, where she served as organist starting in 1968 until the church closed. Wilma continued to play the organ at the McConnell United Methodist Church until age 93. In addition, she held may church offices including serving as treasurer many years. She was also a 50 plus year member of the Eastern Star, first in Winslow and then in Lena.

Wilma was an excellent cook, known for exceptional potato salad, deviled eggs, apple pies, and frosted sugar cookies. She was a faithful Cubs fan and playfully roused the several Cardinal fans in the family. A lifelong owner of Oldsmobile cars, she continued to drive her '85 red Cutlass until 2 years ago.

Survivors include one daughter Sarah (Dan) Todd of Lena; four grandchildren, John (Marla) Todd of Fisher, IL, Ann Todd (Tim) Karkowski of Dekalb, IL, Carrie Todd (friend John Hamre) of Hiawatha, IA, Matthew Todd (fiancée Caitlin Rath) of Dekalb; two great-grandsons Jeremiah and Andrew Todd of Fisher, IL.; and two nephews Virgil (Barb) Zunker and Robert Zunker, both of Cedarville.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Lloyd Zunker.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, February 15 at the McConnell United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rock Lily Cemetery, Winslow. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 pm on Tuesday, February 14 at Leamon Funeral Home, Winslow.

A memorial fund in Wilma's name has been established for the McConnell United Methodist Church.
