William L. Perington, age 76, of Hatfield, WI. died in his home in the Town of Adams, Jackson County, on Saturday, April 3, 2010, after a long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born in Rock County, WI, on April 9, 1933 to William M. and Ada V. (Blum) Perington.
He grew up near the Sugar River Bottoms in Southern Wisconsin where he learned to be an avid hunter and fisherman.
Bill was a longtime member of the 32nd Veteran's Denesion of the Wisconsin National Guard and the National Riflemen Association.
Bill was employed as the plant engineer at Beloit Woodlands Corporation, a tree harvesting equipment manufacturer, at Ripon Foods in Ripon, WI., at Schuld Manufacturing Company in Mosinee, WI, at Land-O-Lakes in Spencer, WI, and as a sales rep. for Paget Equipment Company in Marshfield, WI.
In 1995 he retired and was able to go back to his hobbies of hunting, fishing, and his favorite trap shooting with his friends, wife, and family.
He was active with the Black River Gun Club, Millston-Knapp Rod and Gun Club, and the Neillsville Gun Club. He was a member of the Old Geezers Shoot at the Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club.
Surviving are his wife of over forty years Karen Melstrand Larson, a son Jeffrey Perington, Ripon, WI, a daughter Denise (Duane) formerly Hughes, Shambour, Prior Lake, MN, stepchildren, Paul Visocky Larson, Hatfield, WI., Peggy (Jerry) formerly Koenig, Armson, Black River Falls, Lloyd Larson, White Lake, WI., Michael Larson, Marshfield, WI, Scott (Jodi and her daughter Traci) Larson, Elk Mound, WI, grandchildren, Michelle (Roger) Velie, Ripon, WI, Dr. Phoebe M. Hughes, Rochester, MN., Jason Perington, Omro, WI, Robert Hughes, River Falls, WI, great- grandchildren, Austin, Paige, and Josh Velie, Ripon, WI, step- grandchildren, John (DeEtta) Koenig, Hatfield, WI, Cassandra and McKenzie Larson, Marshfield, WI, Ryan, Eric and Wade Larson, Elk Mound, WI, two sisters, Mary Fowler and Betty Johnson, both of Brodhead, WI, nephews and nieces, Randy (Brenda) Fowler, Wendy (Steve) Oliver, and Laurie Kettle all of Brodhead, WI, Wade (Barb) Johnson, Mauston, WI, Gwen (Jim) Swain and Rodney Johnson, both of Brodhead, WI, and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-laws, Clayton Fowler and Gaylord Johnson, and a nephew Dr. Donald (Vonda) Fowler.
Per bill's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be given to either the Hatfield Fire Department or to the Black River Gun Club.
