Walter William (Bill) Stauffacher, Jr. died in Arizona on August 13, 2016. He was 83.
Bill Stauffacher was born on May 8, 1933 in Monroe. His parents were Walter W. Stauffacher and Lillian V. (Goecks) Stauffacher. Bill was brought up on a farm just north of Monroe. On November 19, 1953 he married Georgian Schieg. They were married for 63 years. They lived in the Monroe area, eventually settling into a home in Jordan Center.
Bill worked at various times for the Gempler Tire Shop, was self-employed with a grocery store in Jordan Center, employed by the town of Jordan as a road care worker and also was a custodian at Monroe High School.
Bill is survived by his wife, Georgian, a son Steve (Linda) and a daughter Susan (Lloyd) Towberman. He also is survived by a sister, Barbara Ann Pleva of Milwaukee and a brother, Al (Ellyn) of New Glarus. He had eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his parents, one Brother and a daughter, Sherry Cooley, and step-mother Frances Blumer and another step-mother Rosa Neuenschwander.
Bill was a man of good cheer. He liked to laugh and to make other people laugh.
For many years he and his wife lived in an RV and traveled through the country. Nothing pleased Bill quite so much as stopping to talk with strangers along the way.
He had a natural gift of gab.
