Virginia F. Blumer

Virginia F. Blumer, (nee Bartlett) died December 17, 2008 at the age of 93. She was born in Attica, WI to Roe and Faye Bartlett and lived her entire life in the Attica, Albany area. In 1937, she married Fred J. Blumer, also from Albany.

Virginia was a school teacher prior to her marriage and later taught in Albany Grade School. She also taught at Wyler Military School in Evansville. She also served as Albany Village treasurer for many years. Virginia was a charter member of the Sugar River Roses, a china painting group. She was the last surviving "Gold Star Mother" in Albany.

Surviving are her children, Judith (Linus) Sepsey, Claire Dick, Renee (Philip) Porterfield, Karl (Jeannie) Blumer, RoEllen (Joseph) Rothenbach, Kim (Pam) Blumer. A sister, Cynthia (Loren) Bagley. And her sister-in-law, Mae Holtsapple. Fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, all very special to her and she to them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, their son, Kris, and in-laws, Jacob and Elizabeth Blumer; sister, Arlene Oliver and son-in-law, Elliot Dick.

The funeral service for Virginia F. Blumer will be held on Monday, December 22, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Albany Lion's Club Building. Pastor Mary Gafner will officiate. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Albany. Friends may call at the Lions' Building on Sunday, December 21, 2008 from 2 until 5 p.m.
