NEW GLARUS - Viola P. Truttmann, age 95, of New Glarus passed away on July 1, 2013 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on August 23, 1917 to her parents Fred and Pauline (Alder) Zweifel. Viola attended the Legler Valley School and New Glarus High School. On April 17, 1938 she was united in marriage to Sylvan Truttmann at New Glarus, WI. Viola was a farmer's wife, farming with her husband and she had also worked at Manchester's in Madison, the Swiss Miss in New Glarus, and later had guided at the Swiss Historical Village. She was a lifelong member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Viola was a crafter and seamstress. She taught many to sew as a 4-H leader and also crafted many teddy bears over the years.

Viola is survived by her son Dwight (Dianna) Truttmann of Mt. Horeb, WI, daughter Janet (Jon) Novak of Loves Park, IL; grandchildren Heather (James) Kohout, Douglas (Dana) Truttmann, Allan (Shawn) Novak, Daniel (Shelly) Truttmann, and Paula (Richard) Legler; great-grandchildren Emily, Caroline, Mackenzie, Alayna, Adam, Mark, Jonathon, Gannon, Collin, and Ellen; a sister-in-law Fern Zweifel; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sylvan, brothers Alvin and Harold, and a sister Evelyn Gordon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Swiss United Church of Christ, 18 Fifth Ave., New Glarus, WI with the Rev. Todd Hackman officiating with burial in the Swiss Church Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI.
