Velma M. Moe, age 83 of Juda, died Friday, April 12, 2013 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. Velma was born June 29, 1929 in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Mathew and Josephine (Siepker) Loring. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1947 and married Wesley W. Moe on May 11, 1948. Velma and Wesley farmed in Postville before moving to Monroe and later Juda in the mid 1960's. Velma worked at the Swiss Colony for numerous years and at the Juda Loafing Shed until her retirement. She attended St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe, loved to dance, listen to big band music, and enjoyed fishing and playing euchre.
She is survived by five children, Sue (John) Messner of Albany, Steve Loring of Baraboo, Lori (James) Norquay of Monroe, Terri (Steve) Heckman of IL, and Greg (Emily) Moe of Juda. She is further survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two sisters, Bernadine (Emil) Lauber and Eileen Pickett, all of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley, on July 10, 1992; a daughter Linda Moe; a son, Richard Moe; four sisters and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday , April 17, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Larry Bakke, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Velma's name for the Monroe Clinic Hospice. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
