Traffic Accidents: March 14, 2013

Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - A deputy responded at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, to a complaint of a semi crossing into the adjoining lane of traffic on U.S. 151 in Belmont Township. The truck was located, and it was determined the strong winds in the area were affecting the driver's ability to control the trailer.



Monroe Police

MONROE - No injuries and moderate vehicle damage were reported at 5:56 a.m. in a two-vehicle accident in the 700 block of 12th Avenue.



Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Tuesday, March 12:

• Robert J. Pryce, 33, Albany, reported no injuries at 5:22 a.m. from a deer vs. vehicle collision on County E at County C in Brooklyn Township. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene.

• Barbara A. Halvensleben, 53, Evansville, reported no injuries from a rollover crash at 5:30 a.m. in the N7600 block of Wisconsin 104 in Brooklyn Township. She was northbound when she lost control on the snow- and ice-covered road. The vehicle entered the west ditch, overturned and came to a rest on its side. It was severely damaged and towed.

• Heidi L. Wing, 50, Monticello, reported no injuries from a one-vehicle crash at 6:13 a.m. on Wis. 69 just north of Cemetery Road in Mount Pleasant Township. She was northbound when she hit a patch of ice on the road, braked and lost control. The vehicle crossed the southbound lane and hit the west ditch. The vehicle was moderately damaged and driven from the scene after being removed from the ditch by a tow service.

• Craig L. Bevins, 40, South Wayne, was westbound in the W6400 block of Wis. 11 in Monroe Township at 4:53 p.m. when he noticed smoke and flames come from underneath the hood. He was able to pull over to the shoulder and extinguish the fire. Deputies and Monroe firefighters responded to the scene. Bevins was uninjured. The vehicle was moderately damaged.

• Sierra A. Haberman, 18, Brodhead, reported no injuries from an accident at 5:55 p.m. in the W1500 block of County F in Decatur Township. She was eastbound when she reported a westbound vehicle veered partially into the eastbound lane. She took evasive action to avoid a collision and entered the south ditch, where the vehicle hit a snow bank. The vehicle sustained severe front-end damage and was towed. The second vehicle was not located.

• Chad A. Helland, 17, Brooklyn, reported no injuries from a rollover crash at 6:22 p.m. in the N7400 block of County E in Brooklyn Township. Helland was northbound when he lost control on an icy curve. The vehicle crossed both lanes into the opposite ditch, where it overturned and came to rest on its roof. It was severely damaged and towed. Albany police assisted at the scene.
