MONROE - On Saturday:
Deputies responded to an abandoned vehicle in the ditch in the W8700 block of Sawmill Road, Town of York. The driver, Herbert W. Huff, 24, and his passenger Deuandre M. Jones, 38, both of New Glarus, were eventually located and were uninjured. Huff reported he was eastbound when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and hit a tree. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment and became stuck in the ditch. Huff was arrested at 3:02 a.m. for driving while under the influence and cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle, failure to notify law enforcement of an accident, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Huff was released pending court. The vehicle was moderately damaged.
While responding to the above accident, deputies located a second vehicle crash in the W8700 block of Sawmill Road, Town of York, at 3:02 a.m. Investigation revealed that Jessica M. Farrar, 19, Monroe, was eastbound when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and hit a fire number sign, a mailbox and then a tree. Farrar left the scene of the accident. She later reported she was uninjured in the crash. The vehicle was very severely damaged and impounded. Citations are pending. The crash was not directly related to the previous crash.
Deputies responded to an abandoned vehicle in a pasture on County J north of Wisconsin 81, Town of Monroe. As the deputies were investigating, Jeffrey D. Ritschard, 52, Monticello, drove back to the scene in another vehicle. Ritschard was arrested at 5:43 a.m. for driving while intoxicated and cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle. Ritschard reported that he was northbound when his vehicle failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle slid across both lanes, entered the west ditch, went through a barbed wire fence into a pasture and became stuck in the mud. The vehicle sustained minor damage and Ritschard was uninjured. He was later released pending court.
Cassandra M. Trumpy, 17, Monticello, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle accident in the N9500 block of Peerless Road, Town of New Glarus. Trumpy was southbound when her vehicle failed to negotiate a curve due to dense fog. The vehicle swiped a power pole causing severe damage. Trumpy declined medical attention for her injuries. Alliant Energy was notified of the power pole.
On Sunday:
David H. Rosebrook, 41, Argyle, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a one-motorcycle crash in the N3600 block of County J, Town of Monroe. Rosebrook had turned northbound on County J from Wis. 81 and lost control of his bike. He reportedly swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. The motorcycle left the roadway and entered the east ditch. Rosebrook was able to drive the bike from the scene to Monroe Clinic ER where deputies responded at 12:21 p.m. Rosebrook was not wearing a helmet or eye protection. He was cited for failure to report a crash to law enforcement. The crash's factual basis and contributing circumstances are under investigation.
