MONROE - No injuries were reported at 8:44 a.m. Friday, July 19 during a one-vehicle accident. William C. Moelling, 58, Monroe, was southbound on Bethel Road when he hit a mailbox in the N900 block of Bethel Road in Town of Clarno. The vehicle had moderate damage to the passenger side and it was driven by the operator.
Deputies responded to the W4900 block of County KK in Sylvester Township at 5:48 p.m. Friday, July 19 for a report on a disabled vehicle blocking the westbound lane. Reports indicate that Connor M. Wahl, 18, Argyle, was traveling westbound on County KK when the front driver side tire came off of the vehicle causing the front end of the vehicle to dip and collide with the roadway. The vehicle had minor front-end and undercarriage damage and was towed from the scene. Wahl and his passenger were uninjured.
No injuries were reported during a two-vehicle accident at 8:52 p.m. Friday, July 19. Desiree M. Dorczuk, 19, Rockton, Ill., was backing up in the parking lot at the Sky-Vu Drive-In Theater in the Town of Clarno, when she backed into a vehicle driven by Kelsey L. Schmidbauer, 22, Belvidere, Ill. Dorczuk's vehicle received very minor damage. Schmidbauer's vehicle received minor damage. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Jerrold K. Schupbach, 59, Monroe, reported hitting a deer at 9:09 p.m. Saturday, July 20 on Towns Road, east of Rechsteiner Road. Schupbach was westbound when the deer entered the roadway and collided with his vehicle. The vehicle sustained passenger-side damage and was driven from the scene.
Deputies, Monroe EMS and Juda First Response responded to a motor vehicle crash at 4:37 a.m. Sunday, July 21 on Wisconsin 11, west of Hartwig Road, in Sylvester Township. Reports indicate that James F. Perez, 21, Janesville, was traveling west on Wis. 11 when a deer ran into the roadway and hit Perez's vehicle. Perez swerved onto the north shoulder of the roadway then overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, which slid off the roadway and overturned onto its roof. Perez was transported to the Monroe Clinic Hospital for treatment of injuries. The vehicle had severe damage and was towed from the scene.
A car belonging to Benjamin T. Stauffacher, 21, South Wayne, was found damaged at 6:44 a.m. Sunday, July 21 in the W8100 block of Smock Valley Road in the Town of Cadiz. Reports indicate that the vehicle hit a small tree/stump on the north side ditch east of Cadiz Springs Road and continued east for about 150 yards. The occupant or occupants fled the scene prior to law enforcement arriving. The vehicle had severe damage and was impounded. Stauffacher contacted the Sheriff's Department later that day and said he swerved to avoid a skunk in the road. No injuries were reported. Stauffacher was cited for failing to notify law enforcement of a crash and was released.
