MONROE - On Feb. 6:

♦ No injuries were reported during a two-vehicle crash at 8:03 a.m. at the intersection of County N and Wis. 81 in Monroe. Philip N. Mazahreh, 39, Monroe, was stopped at the stop sign of County N at the south intersection. There was also a passenger in Mazahreh's vehicle. Mazahreh proceeded through the intersection, did not see an eastbound vehicle, and was struck. Mazahreh's vehicle sustained no damage, however the trailer that he was pulling sustained moderate damage. The trailer was drivable and was removed from the scene by Mazahreh. The other driver was identified as Julie M. Strandt Goetzinger, 53, Blue Mounds. She was traveling east on Wis. 81 when she observed the truck and trailer pull into the intersection. Strandt-Goetzinger attempted to stop, but was not able to and struck the trailer. Her vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Mazahreh was issued a citation for failure to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign. He was released pending a court date.

♦ No injuries were reported during a vehicle versus mailbox crash at 4:03 p.m. in the N8800 block of County J in the Town of York. Randy D. Hendrickson, 57, Argyle, was traveling south when he drifted into the west shoulder. The right side of Hendrickson's vehicle collided with a mailbox. After the collision Hendrickson stopped and notified the owner. His vehicle sustained moderate damage to the entire right side and was driven from the scene. The mailbox post was broken at the base and he made arrangements with the owner for repairs. Randy was warned for failure to maintain control.



Monroe Police

MONROE - Minor injuries were reported during a three-vehicle crash at 8:40 a.m. Feb. 6 at 21st Street and Wis. 69 on Monroe's south side. Kathleen M. Goecks, 60, Juda, was southbound on Wis. 69 and collided with a vehicle operated by a 48-year-old Monticello man, who was eastbound on 21st Street, turning north. The second vehicle was then propelled into a vehicle operated by a 27-year-old Monroe woman traveling eastbound on 21st Street. The Monticello man reported a minor injury but declined EMS. The first vehicle sustained severe damages and was towed. The other vehicles sustained minor to moderate damages. Goecks was cited for failure to obey a red traffic signal and released pending a court appearance.
