New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS - No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 5 p.m. July 28 on Sixth Avenue near Railroad Street. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Rodney L. Bartow, 38, New Glarus, slowed down for pedestrians waiting to cross the street and was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Eveline M. LaPointe, 19, Albany. LaPointe's vehicle received moderate damage, and Bartow's vehicle received minor damage.

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 8 a.m. July 29 on Wisconsin 69 near 11th Avenue. Deputies report Jamie M. Plath, 35, Browntown, attempted to turn around on the roadway and ended up in the ditch. Plath's vehicle received minor damage.

MONROE - One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 1:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Town Center and Five Corner roads in Jefferson township. Deputies report a car driven by David L. Welz, 51, Monroe, was traveling north on Five Corners Road when his vehicle was struck in the side by a pickup driven by John F. Ludlum, 67, Monroe. Ludlum was traveling west on Town Center Road and failed to stop for a stop sign. Welz was transported to Monroe Clinic Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Welz's vehicle received extensive damage. Ludlum was not injured in the crash. Ludlum's vehicle received moderate damage. Both vehicle were towed from the scene. Ludlum was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and released pending court.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 9 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Wis. 11 and County GG in Spring Grove township. Deputies report a semi trailer driven by Jeremiah, A. Griffen, 23, Freeport Ill., was southbound on Wis. 11 when a vehicle driven by Chelsea L. Nelson, 16, Brodhead, pulled out from the stop sign and collided with the rear wheels of the trailer unit. The trailer received minor damage; Nelson's vehicle received moderate damage. Nelson was cited for failure to yield a right of way from a stop sign and released pending court.

• No one was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 1 a.m. Saturday on Skinner Hollow Road near Rothenbuehler Road. Deputies report Jacob Lenz, 16, Monroe, lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve, slid off the roadway and struck an embankment. His vehicle received moderate damage and was removed form the scene by Lenz.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday in the W5800 block of County H. Deputies determined a vehicle driven by Todd R. Eicher, 45, Monticello was eastbound when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed also traveling eastbound. Eicher stated he then started to operate left of center to try to get the speeding car to slow down. The vehicle, driven by Matthew D. Disch, 20, New Glarus, started to pass Eicher's vehicle on the left and the cars sideswiped, causing minor damage. Disch left the scene of the traffic crash. Eicher was cited for operating left of center. Disch was cited for operating while under the influence, first offense, prohibited alcohol concentration, driver allowing open intoxicants, hit and run to an attended vehicle and speeding. Both subjects were released pending court.
