NEW GLARUS - Three 17-year-old males from Belleville could be charged in Green County Circuit Court for three burglaries reported April 13 on Industrial Drive.
Charges against the teens were going to be forwarded to the Green County District Attorney's office Monday.
New Glarus Police Chief Steve Allbaugh said two of the teens have confessed to the burglaries. He said an anonymous tip led them to suspect the three teens.
Green County District Attorney Gary Luhman said today he expected to file charges.
The teens' names were included in a news release from the New Glarus Police Department, but the Times won't publish the names until charges are filed.
Allbaugh said the three teens face charges of burglary, criminal damage to property, felony and misdemeanor thefts and possession of burglary tools.
The teens allegedly burglarized Stampfli's Auto Service, Sugar River Power Center and Hoesly's Meats on Industrial Drive.
Allbaugh said the teens stole a safe from Hoesly's Meats and cash and snacks from the other businesses equating to about $19,500. Allbaugh said department estimates of stolen property are a few thousand dollars more.
The teens allegedly broke windows to gain access to the businesses.
Allbaugh said restitution for all stolen property and damages to the businesses will be sought in addition to the criminal charges.
