Therese M. Solawetz age 86, of Monroe, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at her home. Therese was born July 21, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Brzinski) Bruzan. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and later a teaching certificate from DePaul University. She taught in Wood Dale, IL for a few years before her marriage to William Solawetz on February 20, 1954 in Cicero, IL. After raising her seven children, Therese worked as a librarian and substitute teacher in Roselle, IL. She and Bill moved to Monroe in 1994. Therese was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish where she served as a substitute teacher and volunteered teaching religious education and helping with the After School Reading Program. She also volunteered her time at St. Vincent de Paul and Monroe Clinic.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Solawetz of Monroe; seven children, James Solawetz of Roselle, IL, Mary LaBudde of Glen Ellyn, IL, William E. (Wendy) Solawetz of West Des Moines, IA, Joseph (Laura) Solawetz of Monroe, Harold Solawetz of Naperville, IL, Ann (Jose) Maco of Palatine, IL, and Richard Solawetz of Chicago; eleven grandchildren; one great grandson; and a brother, Norbert (Barbara) Bruzan. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Edward (Julie) Bruzan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Larry Bakke, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Therese's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
