NEW GLARUS - Therese Jaggi, age 84, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the Monroe Hospice Home. She was born on January 30, 1934 in Thoerigen, Switzerland to her parents Hans and Anna (Schneeberger) Brugger. Therese first came to the United States in 1960 on a six-month visa. After returning to Switzerland she then began the emigration process and came to the U.S. permanently in September of 1961. On October 28, 1961 she was united in marriage to Ernest Jaggi at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus. Together Ernie and Therese were involved in promoting the Swiss Culture of New Glarus, they managed the Chalet Landhaus for fifteen years, provided entertainment for many bus tours, were part of the Wilhelm Tell play, and served as the king and queen of Cheese Days. She was a member of the New Glarus Jodlerklub from 1962 until retiring in 2012. Therese was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, baker, cook, and was also known for her talent as a gardener. She tended the flowers at the Landhaus, Hotel, Historical Village, and downtown New Glarus along with her vegetable and flower gardens at her home.
Therese is survived by her husband Ernie, daughter Annamarie (Stefan) von Siebenthal, sister Annalies Graenicher, sister-in-law Trudi (George) Gansner, brother-in-law Theo (Helen) Jaggi, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Hans Brugger.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus.
