Theresa M. Brown, 93, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012 in her home in Clermont, FL. She was born on September 27, 1918 in Plain, WI. She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Laubmeier) Dischler. Theresa attended school in Plain, WI. She entered the convent as a postulate in March 1934 and later left the convent in 1938. She served in the Women's Army Auxiliary from 1942 and 1943 during World War II. After her discharge, she co-owned the Wiota Tavern from 1951 until 1966. Theresa married her husband, Merle W. Brown on December 26, 1952 in Gratiot, WI. She and her family moved to Orlando, FL in 1966. Theresa was an avid traveler and loved to visit exotic places. After her husband died in 1986 she moved to Ketchikan, Alaska for two years where she became a licensed FCC Broadcaster and had her own radio show every Saturday afternoon. She always loved a new adventure and sought out enriching activities. Theresa's last major accomplishment was to write an autobiography called, "Wanting More." She had it published in 2000. Her mottos were "Try anything once" and "Go ahead with confidence." She hitch-hiked over 9,000 miles, drove Army vehicles all over the eastern part of the United States and journeyed to three continents.

Survivors include her daughter, Joyce (Tom) Rock of Eden Prairie, MN and James (Cindy) Brown of Monteverde, FL; three grandchildren, Cassandra (Rob) Walls, Nathan (Nicole) Brown, Christel Rock; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Simon (Mary Jane) Dischler of North Freedom, 3 sisters, Margaret Chase of Sun Prairie, WI, Sr. Clara Dischler O.P. of Racine, WI and Clara (Russell) Ruegsegger of South Wayne, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Thomas (Marie) Dischler, Charles "Butch" Dischler, Lucas (Virginia) Dischler, five sisters, Betty (Luke) Liegel, Lucy (Edward) Gruber, Genevieve (Simon) Bindle, Agnes (Roger) Berget, Bernadine Dischler; and a son, William "Bill" Brown. She will be put to rest at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, FL. The family gratefully acknowledges all of the family and friends who helped celebrate her 90th birthday in Monroe, WI in 2008 prior to her final relocation to the Orlando area. Donations in memory of Theresa will be forwarded to the Hospice Care in Monroe, WI, who for a brief period gave her companionship and compassionate care.
