Steven L. Zimmerman, age 51 of Juda, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at his home following a courageous 38 year battle with diabetes. He lived 17 years after receiving a kidney transplant. He was born October 27, 1959 in Monroe, the son of Roger L. and Nancy Zimmerman.

Steve graduated from Juda High School in 1977 and earned a degree in Auto Body from Blackhawk Tech.

He worked at various locations such as Carter and Gruenewald, a salvage yard in Hanover, WI, and was the first employee at Body Crafters Auto Body in Brodhead.

Steve was confirmed at the Juda Zion United Methodist Church.

He loved his country and was very patriotic, loved cars, NASCAR, his dogs (especially his German Shepherd Ralphie), and above all he loved his family and the time spent with his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his parents, Roger "Bud" and Nancy Zimmerman of Juda; his siblings, Debbie (Randy) Kesler of Juda, Vickie Zimmerman of Monroe, Tom Zimmerman of Juda, and Nannette (Jeff) Higgins of Horicon, WI; nieces and nephews, Chad, Jody, Katrina, Morgan, and Mikaela; and great nieces and nephews, Karlee, Prestyn, Kayla, and Karla.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at the Juda Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Juda.Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Steve's name to Monroe Homecare, Juda First Response, or Green County Humane Society.
