Winslow-Steven L. Solace, age 68, passed away on Monday December 22, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Madison, WI. He was born on January 4, 1946 in Freeport, IL to Elwyn and June (Kleckler) Solace. He graduated from Lena-Winslow High School in 1964. He married Sandra Weiss on April, 1968 in Browntown, WI. Steve enlisted in the U.S Army and trained as a medic. He worked alongside his family at the Winslow Stockyards and H & S Trucking. He volunteered with the Winslow Fire Department and served as Fire Chief for many years. A Stephenson County Sheriff's Deputy, he worked at Lake Le-Aqua-Na State Park. He owned and operated Sam's Place and Riverside Inn in Winslow and retired as the Winslow Township Road Commissioner. Steve enjoyed hunting, looking for the next adventure, telling stories and laughing with his family and friends. Regardless of the hour or the circumstances, when the phone rang or the fire tones sounded, he was out the door to offer his assistance.

He is survived by his children; Lynn Solace of Phoenix, AZ and Tamara Solace of Delavan, WI; step-grandson, SSG Austin (Jocelyn) Hawkins of Camp Casey, South Korea; brother, Scott (Deb) Solace of Lena and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pat Hastings and brother, Larry Solace.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring with details to follow.
