Sonja E. Strommen, age 76 of Dodgeville, WI formerly of Wiota, WI, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Dodgeville. She was born November 20, 1938 in Dodgeville, the daughter of Luther and Evelyn (Paulson) Strommen. Sonja attended Connolly Cleary-Hanson and Reed Rural Schools. She grew up in Lamont Township where she farmed with her parents. In 1989 she moved with her parents to Wiota where they resided until Sonja was moved to Dodgeville in 2004.

Sonja is survived by one sister: Janice (Bob Ridout) McMannes of Dodgeville, WI; 13 nieces and nephews: Donna (Dave) Chambers, Beaver (Cathy) Paulson, Patti (Dick) Rielly, Jodi (Bill) Ruf, Stacey (Tom) Smith, Wendy (Kevin) Leahy, Lori Wienkes, Connie Kosharek, Scott McMannes, Ricky (Gina) McMannes, Jim McMannes, Jack (Jean) McMannes, and Jeannie (Greg) Heilman; many great nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law: Charolette (Rubert) Kerl of Black Earth, WI; and special friend: Bev Mulcahy. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Kenneth Paulson; two nephews: Jay McMannes and Jerry McMannes; and one niece: Judy McMannes.

Sonja was a member of Yellowstone Lutheran Church, and enjoyed working at its annual Norwegian dinner. She will always be remembered by her family for her luck when playing cards. She also enjoyed the Brewers, playing bingo, and dancing. Sonja will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Yellowstone Lutheran Church (4472 Saints Road, Blanchardville, WI) with Rev. Daniel Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in Yellowstone Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
