Shirley Mae Kubly age 77 of Monticello, went home to our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Shirley was born August 16, 1936 in Shullsburg, the daughter of Henry and Laura (Newman) Schwartz. She attended Argyle schools and married Robert O. Kubly on November 17, 1953 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe. The couple moved from Darlington to Monticello in 1963, building their lives on Monroe Street for 51 years. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Shirley enjoyed her afternoon coffee with her husband. She believed in Jesus and knew that her final resting place would be in heaven with Donald and Sofia. Heaven received a beautiful angel.
She is survived by her husband, Robert O. Kubly of Monticello; six children, Nancy (Steve) Guptill, Ron (Sharon) Kubly, Vicki (Rick) Bezik, all of Monroe, Deb (Nic) Wand of South Wayne, Roberta Kubly (Rich Scott) of Monroe, and Charlotte (Tim) Dubel of Brodhead; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Eugene in 1957; a great-granddaughter, Sofia Jo Kubly in 2009; four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Lowell Stuessy officiating. Interment will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Darlington, followed by a luncheon at the American Legion in Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Shirleyâs name.
Shirley was a wonderful giving woman and will be dearly missed by her family.
